The sophisticated Dining Hall in the Rideau Centre Shopping Mall provides a one-of-a-kind dining experience for Ottawa shoppers. The Dining Hall demonstrates Gabriel Mackinnon’s experience in hospitality lighting design. Designed by GH+A, angular white planes float above the space, and peeking through, adjustable LED heads provide a rhythm of light splashes. These fixtures also lend general illumination for the circulation areas and tables. A smooth cove encircles the dining area, marking the boundary between retail and customer space.
Brilliant white surfaces are highlighted with pops of fuchsia and rich wood tones. Feature pendants mark special dining areas, and glowing details are incorporated into much of the wood paneling and furniture. The simple and elegant lighting strategy helps make an ordinary trip to the dining hall delightful.
