Toronto Eaton Centre Galleria
Gabriel Mackinnon implemented a lighting design update of Toronto’s iconic shopping centre, the Eaton Centre.
The high and narrow galleria space was a particular challenge; extensive lighting studies were undertaken to optimize the lighting here. Additionally, a tight budget and mounting restraints constrained the design. In the end, simple workhorse theatre fixtures were a perfect fit for the task, inexpensively and simply affording a sense of drama. The quiet solution doesn’t compete with the large statement artwork suspended in the space.
