University of Ottawa – S.I.T.E. Building
Built on the concept of assembled systems, the University of Ottawa’s School of Information Technology and Engineering (S.I.T.E) building is the architectural image of the school’s emerging position in high technology research. The grand four-story galleria is a popular 24-hour study and interaction environment.
It was a significant challenge to integrate efficient lighting, using only 0.98 w/sq’ into architecture that severely restricted mounting locations and used raw materials with low reflectance. Only 5% of the building’s surfaces are painted.
The lighting enforces the school’s bold architectural direction while creating a comfortable space for everyday campus life.
